Adventures in Cross Country Moving

Image
As most of you know, my family and I have had a very intense and adventurous few days.  Moving across the country will do that.  My girls were already in Ohio.  My husband, dog and I left Orlando in the rain.  Only a few hours into our trip an oil light came on with a wrench.  My husband (who was rockin’ the U-Haul and drove the whole way) felt that the beast of a vehicle was pulling to the right, so we pulled off to the side of the road on I-75.   While semi’s sped past us rocking the cab of the U-Haul, and my dog started to freak out, I called the road side assistance just to make sure it was ok.  The first call got disconnected.  The second time I spoke with them the woman on the other end of the phone started to panic.  She told me to hang up and call 911.  So I did.  911 just got annoyed with me for calling them even after I tried to explain to them th...

H.A.L.T: Throw Me an Apple, and Let Me Take a Nap!

I’m going to be pretty real here for a few moments.   I had a rough night/morning.   I didn’t sleep well at all.   Dan and I have a list of changes and transitions going on in our household, which I will discuss more once we have more clarity (Prayers appreciated), and I confess I let my mind go in places of worry that it didn’t need to go to last night.   Yes, I know what the word of God says.   I believe it.   I know God is with us, we will have good success, and all will be well….sigh, sometimes God gets you in situations to stretch you and work your faith and I know it’ll all work out, but I’m kind of kicking and screaming at the moment. (Joshua 1:1-10, Jer 29:11)   It is true that the battlefield is in the mind, and I know that victory is ours says the Lord.   As a result of a super lack of sleep, I was a bit edgy this morning.   I grumped at Dan and the girls.   I made the mistake of going to the Wal-Mart closest...

Worst Case Scenario Mindset

Image
I have a confession to make.   Sometimes being a tad on the dramatic side, I automatically write stories in my mind, and being a Christian that needs to renew my mind isn’t always the easiest of combinations.   I have a mindset sometimes that jumps to worst case scenarios.   Sure, I fight against it, and am reprogramming my mind regarding this, but it can be a struggle in my life. The Bible says to admit your faults to each other (James 5:17), so I hope in letting this freak flag fly someone else can get freedom from their worst case mindset.             Just this weekend the post office left a note on the door saying we needed to sign for an envelope.   We have a lot of different situations going on right now, so automatically I jumped to “Oh no, what’s in that envelope”.   I had at least three major theories in m...

Me Worry? Nahh.....

I had a challenging few days business wise last week.   I don’t need to get into details.   But legal threats were flying and I had to confront some situations that had needed to get confronted for a while.   I really stink in these situations and avoid them at all cost.   As the dust began to settle I began rehearsing over in my mind what was said, and how I could have handled the situation possibly better.   While I tried to be in peace and let it go, I didn’t sleep for at least one night and replayed everything too many times.             While discussing this all with my father, my dad began to instruct me in a way only my father can.   I explained to him what happened and while his response seemed simple it was so wise.             “It seems to me,” he responded, “you s...
