Lessons Learned In The Pruning Season

Image
People in the church often have a misguided notion that God always operates in the timing and the way that we think He should.   His Word is quite clear that His ways aren’t our ways (Isaiah 55).   The longer I’ve been pursuing a life in the Kingdom, I realize that God is really into times and seasons.   Often one season may look totally different than another season.   Nature reflects this so well.   Winter and summer may look completely different, but they each serve a purpose.   It’s important to discern those seasons.   The sons of Issachar understood this too (1 Chronicles 12:32). It’s important to trust God in those seasons and be able to recognize that God is faithful no matter what a situation may look like.   We often like to talk about the exciting season.   We all want to hear words about harvest and the manifested promises.   We all love to hear stories of the faithfulness of God.   What about the season that ...

Dream for the American Church Part 2

Image
Dream for the American Church Part 2              I expected after sending out the last dream I’d had about the American Church that for the most part God was done speaking to me on the matter.   However last night I had another dream that was the 2 nd part to the dream before.   If you missed the first, please view it here: http://annamaquino.blogspot.com/2017/02/prophetic-dream-for-american-church.html Let me reiterate again that this is not something I do flippantly, and it’s with the utmost care that I’m sharing this second part.             To briefly catch you up on the first dream, I dreamt I was already married and marrying some other person.   I knew I was making a huge mistake.   God was telling me that as a whole the American church is attempting to stay in covenant with him...

You Can't Stop Mid-Stream!

So it’s been awhile since I’ve blogged.   Some of you may be happy to see another blog in your inbox and some may not be, but I had a thought this afternoon and I wanted to share. Summer is quickly approaching and I don’t know about y’all but I am so enjoying finally getting out of the house. Where we are currently staying Dan, the girls, and I tend to go on a bike ride or walks almost every day and sometimes a couple times a day depending on weather and schedules. This afternoon the girls and I were biking and my youngest kept getting in front of us, and then stopping to see if we were following her.   That wouldn’t be a bad thing if she didn’t keep stopping almost right in front of us.   What started to be a leisurely bike ride kept being riddled with me being afraid of crashing into her, and swerving at the last minute to avoid her. As our ride progressed I kept thinking about how that is so much like life.   Think about if we were...

Get Ready for Your Finest Hour

Image
It’s been a challenging season for many in this time, me included.  The more people I’ve talked to the more people I see that have been going through stuff.   Many seem as if they have been worn down with opposition. There has been such major shifting and moving in the body that it has been a challenge.  In my own walk, my family and I have faced relocating across the country, new church, new job, new circumstances, somethings have gone the way I planned and some have not.              Last night I as I was getting ready to go to bed I heard the Lord say, “Many believers are being poised and positioned for their finest hour.”  As I thought about this, I sat back and realized that if God is preparing us for our finest hour on the earth, then He is about to show up and show off in many situations.  God loves to show up and show...

Grumpy Old Faith

Image
Jesus did not die on the cross so that we could stay comfortably grumpy in our old time religion.  The world has had enough of a room full of curmudgeons, who argue over who gets to carry the post-it notes at the next service meeting.  They don’t want to go into rooms and see smiles painted onto people who spent the night in a local bar.  They’re tired of narcissistic hypocrisy with cold wooden pews and hymnals with layers of dust.  No longer is this a culture where Leave It To Beaver smiles can reign supreme, as silently the members are counting the moments until the sermon draws to a close.  Religion is like concrete that has weighted down the church, leaving it to feel its carrying a 10 pound noose in its teeth.  Jesus did not die on the cross so that churches could become social clubs.  I once heard a story about a man who purposely dyed his hair green and walked into a church just to see their reaction.  Maybe his motive was a little ...

Going from the Multiples to the Multitudes

I’m not quite sure how to label this blog.  You can call it a blog, a semi prophetic word, or a random musing, but today I had a bit of a rheama word that seemed to bounce off of scripture and shake me for a moment.  I felt I needed to share.              I feel that the churches as a whole as well as many leaders are being shifted into some new places.  We are going from the multiples to the multitudes .  What do I mean by that?  I believe God is enlarging our spheres of influence and we who have been feeling this shift, need to prepare to enlarge our tents and stretch out our tent pegs (Isaiah 54).  This is a transition of thinking.  Early in Jesus’ ministry you don’t see the multitudes mentioned until after the disciples are called.  There was an appointed time where His fame was heard and multitudes began followi...

We Have A Cleaning System

Image
I am sure we are not the only person who had had problems with keeping a house clean.   What we used to do is expected everyone to do their part, but when they didn’t it would turn into huge fights.   The kids would get yelled at because their rooms were a mess.   Dan and I would turn snippy at each other because what we thought should get done wasn’t getting done, and it was all out chaos.   I get all people have to find their groove when it comes to family issues like this one, but for a long time it felt we had yet to find it.             A month ago everything changed.   I’m not sure who suggested it.   But out of desperation we listed all the household chores and assigned them.   I hate dusting, and others in my family don’t mind it so much.     Then I made a chart and printed it out.   What had been a...

Bicycling From Behind

Image
My family and I have taken to going on bicycling rides around our neighborhood when we can. It’s good family exercise and we’ve been enjoying it. However it can be a challenge to do this with my youngest. She’ll be 6 soon, and sometimes she still has problems riding up on the sidewalk or watching for cars. What usually happens is I usually lead and my husband usually rides at the end so that he can watch out for her. Often, I don’t even realize they’ve stopped until I’ve turned around. She’s stuck in the grass, her wheels have turned, and she wasn’t going fast enough over the bump in the sidewalk. Dan’s already there helping her, and I’ll stop and we’ll all wait until we can get moving again. Sometimes it turns into a cheering season where we all start chanting “GO! Go! Go! You can do it!“ Stopping like this can get a little frustrating, but our youngest needs the help. I was thinking about this as we were out riding the other day, and how it relates to the church. Ideally ...
