Old Faithful
This morning I was praying and I kept seeing a vision of Old Faithful at Yellowstone National Park erupting. It wasn’t one time I saw this but over and over again. Though I’ve never seen it erupt in person, I did see it over and over again in this vision. I believe the Lord was trying to teach/remind me of some things through this vision and I felt that in today’s blog it would be a great time to share.
According to Wikipedia, Old Faithful erupts every 45 minutes to 125 minutes. While they are never 100% when it’ll erupt they always know it will. The signs are always there. It always happens.
Seeking God and His promises can sometimes feel that way. You can never be sure exactly when and how it’ll appear on the surface but eventually it will. Because underneath the surface the water is boiling and the land is moving and suddenly this thing that you know God has been speaking to you about appears.
We as followers of Christ so often get funny about believing for the things of God. We wait for it, and we don’t feel like anything is happening. Then we wait some more, and we start whining. We wait some more and feel like stomping our feet or throwing a fit. But all the while God is All Faithful. Things are happening under the surface and just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not getting ready to explode.
Mark 4:38-40 (KJV)And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
God equates being at peace in a tumultuous situation with your faith. Do you really believe Him and trust Him at His word or do you believe the circumstances more?
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Faith is a choice. It’s a consistent choosing to believe in God despite of what you see. It’s a choice to continue to renew your mind to what God has spoken. Choose to trust God today. He is like Old Faithful in your life. He’s there; he’s doing things in your life no matter what you may see. He’s working a miracle that will sprout up on the surface, I guarantee it. But you have to believe Him. You have to choose to trust Him. He knows where you are. Choose to stay in faith. He is faithful!
2 Thessalonians 3:3 (Amplified Bible)3Yet the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen [you] and set you on a firm foundation and guard you from the evil [one].
